OptiPhos® Plus 10,000 G and Hostazym® X 15,000 are the most frequently purchased concentrations of our enzymes. However, moving to higher concentrated versions, for instance OptiPhos® Plus 50,000 G and Hostazym® X 60,000 brings extra benefits for our users such as:

  • Less volume (fewer kgs) to ship and store
  • Better fit for use in highly concentrated premixes
  • More concentrated enzymes have a lower carbon footprint per unit of enzyme activity

Using more concentrated forms of our enzymes does not lead to a lower uniform spreading of the enzymes in feed and in premix.

OptiPhos® Plus 50,000 G can replace OptiPhos® Plus 10,000 G

Table 1 shows the quantity of OptiPhos® Plus 50,000 G which needs to be dosed per ton of premix in a 0.1, 0.5 or 1% premix to reach a final concentration of 500 to 2000 FTU/kg feed. Clearly the concentration does not pose any problem during premix production because the amount of enzyme that needs to be dosed is at least 1 kg per ton of premix.

Table 2 shows that the uniform spreading of the phytase particles does not pose any issue, as even at the lowest inclusion rate (only adding 500 FTU per kg of final feed), there are still a minimum of 500 particles of OptiPhos® Plus 50,000 G per kg of feed present.

Table 1. Dose of OptiPhos® Plus 50,000 G (kg/T of premix) in different premix concentrations (0.1%, 0.5% and 1%) to reach levels of 500 to 2000 FTU/kg in final feed
Table 2. Number of OptiPhos® Plus 10,000 or 50,000 G phytase particles present per kg of feed at different inclusion levels

Hostazym® X 60,000 can replace Hostazym® 15,000

A similar calculation can be made for Hostazym® X 60,000 as the more concentrated form.

Table 3 shows the amount of Hostazym® X 60,000 G that needs to be dosed per ton of premix for a 0.1, 0.5 or 1% premix. It is also clear that the higher concentration does not pose any issue for production of the premix as the minimum dose of Hostazym® X 60,000 is 2.5 kg per ton of premix.

Similarly, moving to a higher concentration of Hostazym® X does not impact the uniformity of the presence of the enzyme in the final feed. As can be seen in Table 4, even when adding only 1500 EPU/kg of feed when applying Hostazym® X 60,000, there are at least 1,857 particles of Hostazym® X per kg of feed present.

Table 3. Doses of Hostazym® X 60,000 (kg/T of premix) for different premix concentrations (0.1%, 0.5% and 1%) for dosing 1500 or 3000 EPU per kg of final feed
Table 4. Number of particles of Hostazym® X 15,000 or 60,000 per kg of feed at different inclusion levels in feed

Conclusion

When OptiPhos® Plus 50,000 or Hostazym® X 60,000 are used in a premix, either produced by an external premix facility or in-house at the feed mill, the use of these higher concentrations does not have any negative impact on the uniform spread of the enzyme in the final feed.
