The biological activity of Sacox is due to its ability to form complexes with cations, particularly its ability to transport potassium ions into and out of the cell. The salinomycin molecule encloses the cation in a hallow-ball configuration, immobilizing the central ion with secondary valence bonds. Outside the complex there are largely neutral, lipophilic hydrocarbon groups, which give the complex the ability to penetrate into the living cells. Because of the loose complex formulation with the cation, salinomycin can function as an ion carrier and can transport cations, particularly potassium, ions, into and out of the cell. The resulting disturbance in the parasite’s intercellular ion concentration explains the coccidiocidal activity. During asexual development of the coccidia, Sacox has a coccidiocidal effect on sporozoties and merozoties. Subsequent development of schizonts is also severely impaired; thus, the damage to the intestine is reduced to an absolute minimum.
For the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria tenella, E. necatrix, E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. brunetti and E. mivati in broiler chickens.
Do not feed to laying chickens. May be fatal if accidentally fed to adult turkeys or to horses.
Feed continuously as the only ration. Must be thoroughly mixed in feeds before use. Not approved for use with pellet binders. Thoroughly mix the correct amount of the premix according to the directions below with an amount of non-medicated feed to provide the level of salinomycin per ton of feed.

For use in broiler chickens only
Sacox 60 can be used to provide concentrations of salinomycin ranging from 40 to 60 g/ton (US). The dosage should be adjusted to meet the severity of the coccidial challenge, which varies with environmental and management conditions.
No withdrawal required.
Store in a cool dry place.
Two (2) years from the date of manufacture.
50 lb (22.68 kg) multi-layer paper bags.
When mixing and handling Sacox 60 Premix, use protective clothing; impervious gloves, eye protection and an approved dust respirator. Operators should wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. If accidental eye contact occurs, immediately rinse thoroughly with water.
