PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Tiamulin is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the diterpene group which is active against Gram-positive (staphylococci, streptococci, clostridia, Corynebacterium, Erysipelothrix, Listeria) and Gram-negative (Pasteurella, Klebsiella, Haemophilus, Fusobacterium, Campylobacter, Bacteroides) microorganisms. Of particular significance is its activity against mycoplasmas (Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis, M. hyosynoviae, M. gallisepticum, M. meleagridis) and spirochetes (Serpulina hyodysenteriae, S. innocens, S. pilosicoli, S. suis), etc.

INDICATIONS

For treatment of dysentery, spirochetosis of the colon, spirochetal enterocolitis, proliferative enteropathy, enzootic bronchopneumonia, actinobacillary pleuropneumonia, and mycoplasmal arthritis in pigs.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Tiamulin is incompatible (toxicological incompatibility) with ionophore antibiotics, hence animals must not receive products containing monensin, salinomycin, maduramicin or narasin during or for at least seven days before or after treatment with Rodotium/ Vetmulin 10% injectable solution.

MODE OF ADMINISTRATION (Rp)

Intramuscularly.

TARGET SPECIES

Pigs.

DOSAGE

The average dose is 10-15 mg/ kg b.w. with respect to tiamulin.

For treatment of Serpulina dysentery, spirochetosis of the colon, spirochetal enterocolitis and proliferative enteropathy in pigs - 1.0 ml/ 12.5 kg b.w. a single time (in extremely severe occasions the treatment may be repeated after 24 hours ) ; treatment of enzootic bronchopneumonia and mycoplasmal arthritis in pigs 1.5 ml/ 12.5 kg b.w. for 3 consecutive days; of actinobacillary pleuropneumonia in pigs 2.0 ml/ 12.5 kg b.w. for 3 days.

SIDE EFFECTS

On rare occasions, erythema may occur in pigs which passes away without therapeutic treatment.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD

For meat:

Pigs - 10 days after the last administration of the preparation.

STORAGE

In the original container, well closed, in dry facilities, protected from direct sunlight at temperature between 15° and 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze! Protect from frost!

SHELF LIFE

Two (2) years from the date of manufacture.
