PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic with a bacteriostatic effect against Gram-positive and some Gram-negative microorganisms - cocci, Serpulina (Spirochaeta), Vibrio, Leptospira, Mycoplasma, including also some anaerobic microorganisms, etc. Applied intramuscularly, the antibiotic is quickly resorbed reaching maximal concentration in blood thirty minutes after the injection after which it diffuses in tissues, organs, and bodily liquids; it also passes through the blood brain, blood eye, and placental barriers as well as in sexual glands. It exerts a depot action - a single injection maintains the necessary bacteriostatic concentrations for 24 hours. Tylosin is excreted mainly with the urine and bile (with feces respectively), with the milk in lactating animals as well as with sperm liquid in male animals. It is compatible with tetracycline, sulfanilamides, erythromycin and spectinomycin. Its solution is sensitive to light (disintegration occurs).
