Ivermectin |

Ivermectin acts as an endectocide (simultaneously against endo- and ectoparasites). It causes paralysis of the nematodes and the arthropods (insects and acarids) by suppressing the transmission of the nerve impulses in the interneuron synapses of nematodes as well as in the neuromuscular synapses of arthropods. This is realized by stimulation of the release of gammaaminobutyric acid (GABA) from the presynaptic nerve endings which increases its binding to the postsynaptic receptors. In this way the transmission of nervous impulses is interrupted which causes paralysis and death of parasites. Ivermectin is well tolerated by mammals (because in them GABA is localized only in the central nervous system and ivermectin cannot pass through the blood-brain barrier).
Ivermectin affects both nematode adult forms and larvae (fourth stage) of inhibited lung helminths as well as Hypoderma migratory larvae. Ivermectin does not induce teratogenic and embryotoxic effect. It is well tolerated by pregnant animals. It does not affect the reproduction functions of male brood animals.
In large ruminants - gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodiasis (ostertagiasis, hemonchosis, trichostrongylosis, cooperiasis, parafilariasis, oesophagostomosis , bunostomiasis , nematodiriasis, dictyocaulosis); eye nematodiasis (thelaziasis); invasion with insects and acars (lice, pasture ticks); psoroptic and sarcoptic mange; hypodermiasis. In small ruminants - gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodiasis (ostertagiasis, hemonchosis, trichostrongylosis, cooperiasis, oesophagostomosis, nematodiriasis, strongyloidiasis, chabertiosis, trichuriasis, gaigeriasis, dictyocaulosis); invasions with insects and acars (lice, Melophagus spp., pasture ticks, mange mites, psoroptic and chorioptic mites); oestrosis.
In pigs - nematodiasis (ascariasis, strongyloidiasis, hyostrongylosis , metastrongyloidosis , oesophagostomosis); invasions with lice; sarcoptic mange.
