Chlortetracycline hydrochloride, equivalent to chlortetracycline

10 g

Excipients

up to 100 g

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Chlortetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic with a wide spectrum of activity, being active against cocci, colibacteria, salmonella, Pasteurella, Brucella, Leptospira, Listeria, Trichomonas, Toxoplasma, hemosporidia, some large viruses, rickettsiae, etc. It is well absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. Administered to pigs at 12-hour intervals, it creates high blood concentrations (4-5 times exceeding those of oxytetracycline). Its resorption is hindered in the presence of calcium, iron, aluminum, manganese and other metal ions (as a result of the formation of insoluble chelate complexes), while the weak organic acids (tartaric, citric, lactic), their salts and some other compounds (sodium citrate, primary sodium phosphate, etc.) enhance its resorption. It is incompatible with penicillin, streptomycin and some other chemotherapeutics with bactericidal effect.

INDICATIONS

For treatment of diseases caused by chlortetracycline-sensitive bacteria; for prophylactics and treatment of gastrointestinal, respiratory and other infections - paratyphoid, edema, bronchopneumonia in pigs; pullorosis, cholera, chronic respiratory disease, coccidiosis in poultry, etc.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not apply in feed containing compounds of calcium and heavy metals.
