Pharmacological action:

Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic with a bacteriostatic effect against Gram-positive and some Gram-negative microorganisms, Protozoa and large viruses - cocci, Corynebacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Pasteurella spp., Campylobacter spp., Leptospira spp., Brucella spp., Neisseria spp., Rickettsia spp., Actinobacillus (Haemophilus spp.), Brachyspira ( Serpulina, Treponema spp., Borrelia spirochaeta), Chlamydia, as well as against Mycoplasma spp., including also some anaerobic microorganisms (Fusobacterium spp., Bacteroides spp., etc.), etc. The most valuable characteristic is its unique activity against PPLO (pleuropneumonia like organism) action - Mycoplasma gallisepticum, M. meleagridis, M. synoviae, M. arthritidis, M. hyosynoviae, M. suipneumoniae, M. hyorhinis manifest high susceptibility to Tylosin.

Applied orally, the antibiotic is quickly absorbed creating therapeutic concentrations in the blood and the tissues. Excretion is mainly through urine and bile, milk (in lactating animals) and eggs (in egg-producing fowls).

For poultry and pigs, it is especially effective for treatment of mycoplasmosis and chronic respiratory diseases. For turkeys - for treatment of infectious synovitis and sinusitis. It is effective also for treatment of ileitis, dysentery and necrotic enteritis in swine. It is successfully applied as a preventive measure in stress conditions as vaccinations, transportation and others.It is compatible with tetracycline, sulphonamides, erythromycin and spectinomycin.
